Bennett became the sixth Irishman to win a stage at the Tour and ensured he now has stage wins at all three of cycling's Grand Tours. He won three at the Giro d'Italia in 2018 and two at the Vuelta a Espana in 2019.

"It was full gas all the way today, from start to finish there were anxious moments," said Yates.

"We have good bench players, which makes me be confident when facing the upcoming new season," the 54-year-old added.
"One, it will be good economically. But also it will make sense in a context where we might still face a COVID situation. To what extent we don't know, but at least we'll have thought about what it takes to deliver an event like the Games in such an environment."
Finishers got their running medal in their hand, not on their neck.
Josip Brekalo managed to score an equalizer in the 56th minute, but Dayot Upamecano's header and Olivier Giroud's penalty secured the win for the hosts.
"The final climb wasn't too hard, it was difficult to make a gap there, and therefore attacking would have been a huge effort for a small gain. So we rode steady to save energy for the coming days," Yates said.
